Tuflow Run Interface Manager (TRIM) - Official Release

We are pleased to announce that TRIM is now out of Beta and has been formally released. TRIM is a simple simulation management tool for TUFLOW with some great features including:

Easily add any number of TUFLOW models to your queue.
Automatically run your models in sequence with any number of simultaneous runs (TUFLOW and TIRM license dependent)
Get Email or Skype messages when models finish or go unstable
Add models and check status remotely via Skype
Simple progress bar and grid display allows rapid visualisation of model queue progress and model health
Easily test one or more models prior to running the entire queue.
Charts inflows, outflows and errors on the fly for each simulation.
Ability to preview TCF after event and scenario substitutions (helpful for model development)
Easy access to log files, key files and directories via right click menu.

TRIM is available free for up to 1 simultaneous simulation. Paid options are available for managing multiple simultaneous simulations.

Tuflow Run Interface Manager (TRIM)

CSS is pleased to announce a free public Beta for our newest product, the TUFLOW Run Interface Manager (TRIM).

TRIM is designed to help manage TUFLOW simulations more efficiently, its capabilities include:

Automatically queue and run any number of simultaneous simulations to take advantage of all available TUFLOW licenses;
Email and Skype notifications for successful, unstable or stalled model runs;
Charting of time variation in total inflows, total outflows and overall mass balance for each simulation to assist in diagnosing model health;
Lists simulation progress as a percentage and estimates simulation and completion times for each run.

CatchmentSIM 2.50 Released

We are pleased to announce the release of CatchmentSIM 2.50.

Registered users with a maintenance agreement can download this version from our website. Please contact us if you are a current user with maintenance and your account does not have access to this page.

We have recently overhauled our user login system. If you have forgotten your login details, you can recover your account and reset your password here.

Some of the improvements in this version include:

Upgrading of the User Interface

•CatchmentSIM now utilises an updated splash screen that provides instantaneous access to create a new project, open your last used projects, and incorporates a preview image of the project, right there on the splash screen.

•Important CatchmentSIM related news is readily provided to ensure you are up to date with everything CatchmentSIM.

•Resources for online help and mail support are also readily accessible.

Multi Resolution Valley Bottom Flatness (Mr VBF) Algorithm

•This advanced spatial analysis algorithm provides an excellent indication of flatness which can be useful for hydrologic model input.

Spatially Balanced Sampling Site Selection

•Undertake a spatially balance sample site selection for resource monitoring projects with the ability to achieve desired distributions against certain categories (such as Horton Order).

More flexible addition and editing of subcatchment outlets

•Ability to add an alignment as an outlet where outlets will be automatically added along the alignment based on a stream area threshold (useful, for example, when planning the position of culverts along a road or rail alignment)

•Ability to add an ocean polygon as an outlet, allowing coastlines to be identified as outlets instantaneously

•Greater flexibility when editing outlets, notably in deleting outlet pixels, and creating a new outlet from selected outlet pixels.

Subcatchment Manager Updates

•The subcatchment manager now allows selection of multiple subcatchments, and provides the option to merge and delete multiple subcatchments.

Greater usability and manipulation of Grids

•CatchmentSIM now allows the editing of grid cell values directly from a CST script, ability to undertake accumulation, similarity, and connectivity calculations on any grid layer, as well as allowing DEM smoothing.

MrVBF (Multi Resolution Valley Bottom Flatness)

New Stream Initiation Methods

•In addition to creating a stream network based on a Stream Area Threshold (SAT), you can now create streams based on the stream initiation of an observed stream network (such as a stream GIS layer) or a grid based initiation parameter (for example, allowing a different SAT for different soils)

Support for additional Vector Formats

•Support (read only) for new vector file formats including DXF (AutoCAD), E00 (ESRI) and others.

Speed Improvements

•Official release of the multi-threading ability for DEM interpolation and Catchment Mapping (activated through project options), providing a 300% increase in speed of the before-mentioned processes.

Normalised Area Function Chart

•A new chart has been added to CatchmentSIM called the Normalised Area Function. This is the distribution of flow path lengths to the catchment/subcatchment outlet. This chart is parameterised by the Average Flow Path Length and Maximum Flow Path Length (already existing) and one new parameter, Standard Deviation of Flow Path Lengths in the Subcatchment Manager Form

Numerous Other New Features including

•Create Contours from any grid (including DEM)

•Calculate Subcatchment Width.

•Integrated bug tracking and version update notifications.

•Lots of bug fixes.

The three options for Vector Stream Initiation.
