12d Model Aquaplaning Assessment
|
CatchmentSIM can now be used to help automate the identification of aquaplaning risk areas in 12d Model road design surfaces. Specifically, CatchmentSIM can automatically identify the water film depth and critical flow paths over a project TIN (based on equal area slope, texture depth and rainfall intensity) and export them back to 12d with depth, slope and length attached as attributes. Please see the following quick demonstration or our Aquaplaning Brochure for more information.
CatchmentSIM users are invited to download the CatchmentSIM 2.4 Beta and give the aquaplaning algorithm a whirl.
Following our presentation at the 12d Model conference in Brisbane, we’ve also had a lot of requests from potential new users for trials of the aquaplaning algorithm so we have added this capability to our standard 30 day trial package. Please contact us if you would like access the 30 day trial software.

CatchmentSIM now includes all the tools necessary to setup event based hydrologic models including rainfall, loss rates, 1D channel elements and more, directly within the CatchmentSIM GUI. Our newly released CatchmentSIM 2.4 Beta includes the GSSHA interface and we invite CatchmentSIM users to try the model. Please contact us and we will give you access to the 2D Modelling Beta Tester's web page where you can access all the relevant support materials.

Integrated 2D Hydrologic Modelling – Beta Testers Welcome

We have recently developed the first cut of an integrated 2D hydrologic modelling system within CatchmentSIM using the GSSHA software. CatchmentSIM now includes all the tools necessary to setup event based hydrologic models including rainfall, loss rates, 1D channel elements and more, directly within the CatchmentSIM GUI. You may like to read our recent conference paper on the topic.
We are very excited by the early promise shown by GSSHA to perform well in comparison to traditional Australian lumped models. However, we really need a lot more data to make any conclusions. That’s where we need your help!
We are inviting interested users to participate in a Beta Testing program to test this model on Australian catchments. For more information, please visit our Beta Testing website. You will need to login to view this page, if you have forgotten your password, click here.
This invitation is open to current users as well as interested persons who are not current CatchmentSIM users (software will be made available for the Beta period).

Integration with music 4

We are pleased to announce that with the cooperation of eWater, we have developed an integration framework between CatchmentSIM and music 4. This allows catchment areas, impervious proportions, drainage links and landuse characterisation to be developed in CatchmentSIM and then imported directly in music. Smoothing of Streams and Subcatchments

CatchmentSIM becomes one of the only terrain analysis models in the world to support native smoothing of streams and subcatchments whilst preserving topology (ensuring neighbouring boundaries match).
|

This can result in more accurate stream length and slope calculations (typically 10-15% shorter length and thus increased slope).
|
User Parameters

These can take the form of zonal statistics or macro scripts.

For example, add a 'Manning's n' parameter to a project based on zonal statistics of a Land Use layer.

Average Vectored Slope values for each subcatchment are now faster and can account for smoothing. However, please be aware that a new parameter 'Slope Sampling Density' has been added to the Project Options form. Now instead of doing a slope calculation for every perimeter pixel and weighting by length. Only a maximum of this density (default 50) will be analysed. This has been done to speed up the model, particularly if smoothing is turned on.
