CatchmentSIM's network licensing is a powerful system that can allow users within an organisation from across the world to access a centralised licence server. However, this system is dependent on the network environment of your organisation. Below are some brief instructions on setting up the licence manager for networks of differing complexity.
Simple Networks
Simple networks are where CatchmentSIM is being installed on several computers within a network that shares the same Subnet. In this case, the USB key can be inserted into a USB port on any computer where CatchmentSIM is installed. On this computer (the host), access the Hardware Lock Admin Centre through the Start Menu shortcut or via: http://localhost:1947. Check to ensure the following settings are made in the Configuration menu.
•Under 'Basic Settings' ensure 'Allow Remote Access to ACC' is checked.
•Under 'Access for Remote Clients' ensure 'Allow Access from Remote Clients' is checked.
For all other computers, simply install CatchmentSIM and they should be able to automatically retrieve an available licence from the computer that has the USB key.
The Hardware Lock Admin Centre (available through the Start Menu shortcuts or via: http://localhost:1947) can be accessed on any computer (with CatchmentSIM installed) to view who is using the available licenses. Simply, click 'HASP Keys', 'Browse' & 'Sessions' to view the IP and name of all computer currently using the available licenses.
Networks with a Centralised Server
Server Setup
For more complex networks you may not wish to install CatchmentSIM on the computer that will host the USB key (often a server). In this case you can simply install the hardware lock drivers. These drivers are available from this link.
These drivers will initiate a service to manage the USB key. On the server, go to http://localhost:1947 (no Start Menu shortcuts are installed) in a browser and setup the configuration as outlined above in the Simple Networks section.
Client Setup
Firstly, install CatchmentSIM on the required user's computers.
For networks that share a subnet and do not have port broadcasting restrictions, there should not be any changes required to the licence managers installed as part of the default CatchmentSIM installation.
However, if this does not work, you may need to go to the Hardware Lock Admin Centre on the client computers (available through the shortcuts or via: http://localhost:1947) and change the configuration under the 'Configuration >>Access to Remote License Managers' tab. Check the 'Aggressive Search for Remote Licenses' check box and enter the IP address or hostname of the server in the Search Parameters box.
